To my Teacher, a poem by Gobinda Biswas

To my Teacher
To my Teacher

O Sage, you are the ocean of knowledge
From there you distribute the wise pearls,
Since the youth you continue to light up the lamps
And disperse the heavy darkness for days.
We come to you for begging of alms
For our lives it is the nectarine for days,
You are the Himalaya, the king of mountains
It saves the South with the healing balms.
The great mountain adorns it with many a life
With rainfall and fountain that create vegetation,
You save us from lagging far behind in continuation
In the kingdoms of mundane and spiritual matter alike.
O Great Man, like the sun you give us light
It disperses age-old ugly darkness of our minds,
It leads us to honesty from the Pandora’s Box
You are the moon beams at pitchy night.
Please, make our hearts humanitarian and kind
To the numberless down-trodden and suffering humanity,
They are our brothers and sisters, it’s a stern reality
Let them come beyond from the humiliating behind.
