Religion of Primitive Men and Homosapiens, a poem by Gobinda Biswas
Religion of Primitive Men and Homosapiens
Gobinda Biswas
O Modern Men, we are your primitive ancestors
We are scattered all over the earth,
From thirty-eight million to one lakh years back
No doubt, you are descendants by birth.
You call the epochs Oligocene, Miocene, Pliocene and Holocene
We are Aegyptopithecus, Ramapithecus and Australopithecus,
Also we are Homo Habilis, Homo Erectus and Neanderthal
But we don’t feel the need of Lord Jesus.
You always boast that you are civilized
In fact, it is far from the truth,
You live in the world of Utopia
You are driven not by reason but by ‘hudhud’.
We are busy for procuring our daily food
Like leaves, roots, fruits with meat, raw or half-burnt,
We are transformed from food collector to food producer
In course of natural evolution these we learnt.
But you fabricated Heaven and Hades
You imagine that fire was stolen by Prometheus,
Hundreds of deities have been created by you
They caused the war of Troy, O Menelaus.
Brothers and sisters, you have no trust upon you
You have given birth to so many religions,
Like Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, Islam and so on
In camouflage, they have killed you, O Homosapiens.
You demand to be human beings without humanity
One religion tries to annihilate the other,
So, hundreds of crusades have killed millions
On seeing your horrible cruelties, we always shudder.
