I Want not to be Deified, a poem by Gobinda Biswas
I Want not to be Deified
Gobinda Biswas
The suffering humanity around the globe pains me
Numberless people suffer from endless sufferings,
They cry non-stop and shed sad tears
My heart is torn, so sad it rains.
I am born to the lap of mother earth
So is every man born, mother is the same,
Each and every body has every moral right
Over all earthly things, but what a shame!
Sometimes I have founded hundreds of orphanage homes
Together with many charitable trusts and dispensaries,
The homeless people have gotten homes of their own
Now they are smiling on getting the necessaries.
I am a true social reformer in the true sense
As the society is tormented of caste and creed,
I want to break the divisions among them
I reformed the society as I disobeyed the rift.
Sometimes I am an educationist to all
I tried to light-up the lamp of education,
We all tried, every home flashed with light
I am so happy as they are my inspiration.
Once I was a king devoted to all people
I crushed all the satans, the destroyer of peace,
The previous normal and tranquil atmosphere restored
For the innocent man I fought like Achilles.
I served all the people in all the ways
For births and rebirths I like to serve all,
As a common man and nothing else
You made me a prophet and I did fall.
